Photo Gallery

Which of my photographs is my favourite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.
Imogen Cunningham, American photographer (1883-1976)
In this portfolio is a collection of photographs which were each, at one time or another, my favourite.
But photography is a journey, not a destination. I still have a long way to go. I am happy to share some of my journey here.

A little bit about

Merindol Hall Photo Gallery

This is not a professional photographer's gallery. It is a collection of images from the last 20 years which have given me great pleasure from time to time, and sometimes even other people. It represents a journey, the destination being perfection, which, of course, is never achieved. Or, indeed, should never be achieved. The journey is more important, the destination merely an aspiration. I feel I am getting there sometimes, but the bar is raised once again...

What to expect

Expectation versus reality

You might have high expectations in visiting this gallery. You might expect high quality images which hit you in the face. You might expect boring amateur shots. You are welcome to your expectations and I hope you are not disappointed, whatever they are.

Your opinion matters

No, really it does...

One of the things I hate most is criticism of my photos. Probably true of most photographers. I do the best I can with the rather modest equipment I can afford. My eye tells me if I have captured an image just so, but your eye will be different. I welcome your comments both critical and congratulatory. I can only improve on the journey if I know where to go.
